![]() ![]() ![]() Now that they have the "swimming" pool upstairs of the kitchen, if you need to get wet outside of the ocean, you can go up there. While there are a host of many bars, beach clubs, and nightclubs in Tulum, we’ve come up with a pretty simple guide to get you started, as the number of places to choose from can seem overwhelming. Personally, I would check with La Zebra to see if the upstairs units are available and the heck with the plunge pool/tub. I guess this is a tougher decision than I'd thought. ![]() The pool at The Beach is better, but that consideration is secondary to me. And the style at La Zebra is more to my taste, a much warmer/contemporary style than the chilly white style of The Beach. They have a wider variety of chairs, lounges and beds to choose from, while at The Beach I think they're all just beds (willing to be corrected). Having said that, the beach furniture at La Zebra is far superior IMO. Big enough for two, I guess, but not private in the least. At La Zebra, the "plunge pool" is really just a tub built in front of your beach-level porch. Not sure what I saw up there was an actual "jacuzzi", more of a big tub, but they could have upgraded them by now (I saw it a few years ago). I love La Zebra, and I understand that you don't mind the move, but I still like the privacy of the second floor room at The Beach and that private roof terrace you'll have all to yourselves. I didn't look after dark, but you would certainly have to have your curtains drawn as soon as your lights go on. It kind of juts out onto the beach itself. Will you be two nights in the "absolute beachfront" room at La Zebra, or just one? And is that room up on the second floor or on the ground level? Because if it's on the ground level, that particular room is really visible to everyone. But you will have packed light for such a short trip so maybe not a big deal for you. My concern with the room change is more that I hate to pack up and get all my crap together, out of the bathroom, all that, more so than the being without a room for a few hours part. Yup, even though I like La Zebra very much, and would recommend you go visit them to see for yourself what a nice place it is, I would do the second floor at The Beach for this trip. Gets you up above the people on the beach (who can sometimes see into the lower rooms), and you have a really cool roof deck all to yourselves. And I think the second floor is excellent, that would be my choice. I like the decor a bit better at La Zebra, felt that The Beach was a bit chilly and white in style, but it's a nice place. It'll be a cool space, but maybe 15' long and 6' wide? I didn't get up close enough to measure it since it was still under construction, but the area at The Beach's pool is quieter and IMO nicer. The pool that's at La Zebra is upstairs above the kitchen and is pretty small. And as you say the Beach offers a great breakfast included and their swimming pool is really nice-kind of a snaky thing, not a square pool. Thanks in advance for any input you can provide!īoth are great choices, but honestly, for a 3-night stay I wouldn't want to have to change rooms. I like taking baths.ĭo you have any thoughts on deciding between these two hotels? Do you know of any features I didn't mention that might make either a positive or negative? For ex, I wonder if there are free bikes to check out? Also I like that its kid-free and has a bathtub in the bathroom. I like that this hotel offers a free breakfast with some good options. I think I would probably rather be down on the beach, but I'm not positive about that, and the Jacuzzi sounds nice too. I also heard from management that they are opening a new pool next week.Īt TBeach, we would stay all nights in a 2nd-floor room with outdoor Jacuzzi. I keep hearing great things about this hotel, from restaurant to beachfront set-up to the rooms. Prices are pretty similar for both days, and I am having a hard time making a choice, but I need to chew soon since there are many rooms left.Īt LaZ, we would stay 2 nights in the beachfront suite with plunge pool plus one night "absolute beachfront " due to availability. We plan to rest/relax beachfront or poolside, ride bikes, visit Tulum ruins, run, maybe a tiny bit of yoga, biosphere or Cenotes if time allows. Just me and my husband for my 40th birthday. ![]()
